Thyroglobulin Antibody |
50 Thyroglobulin autoantibodies (TgAb) are detected in about 20% of patients with thyroid cancer. Serial serum TgAb measurements may be an independent prognostic indicator of cancer recurrence. TgAb may interfere with serum thyroglobulin measurements performed by noncompetitive immunometric assays. In this situation, thyroglobulin measurements will be sent to the University of Southern California for testing by RIA, which is less prone to interference. Measurement of anti-TPO is a more sensitive test for diagnosis of thyroiditis. TgAb is no longer recommended as part of the work-up for thyroiditis See Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody. Reference range for TgAb is 0 - 40 IU/mL. Specimen requirement is one red top tube of blood. |
